There was a time...

There was a time in the time of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him and in the time of the Rashidun Caliphs (ra) that  a person would not be buried until their debts were paid.
Today Muslims die and are buried without the question on their worldly affairs and if it affects their Akhira. You do realize that the person who has not paid their debts will suffer in the grave. Or have we forgotten? We have moved far far away from the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him where worldly affairs only matter and, because of greed, distribution is done without consideration for the soul who has left this world.
I give you a case. A father and husband died and his widow and minor children were left with nothing just a few dinars in the bank. Even those few dinars didn't belong to the deceased but belonged to his widow, but was distributed without questioning as to who it belongs to and without asking if the deceased left a debt.
The deceased did leave many debts that the widow had to repay(and is still repaying) and the only thing she and her children had was an apartment- which following her husband's death made them the beneficiaries.
But they aren't allowed to rent or sell the apartment and don't even have the title deeds despite buying the apartment more than a decade ago. Following her husband's death the insurance covered the full amount and the apartment was paid for. But despite that it's as if they own nothing at all. So the widow had to work and still works from home as much as she can, and by herself, has to pay the debts of her husband.
If the widow was living in the time of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him, this would not be the case. The deceased's debts would be paid before distribution and the amount that he left would first be investigated as to who it actually belonged to.
Also if a widow and orphans had a property they would receive the title deeds.

The world is tiring and the Sunnah has been forgotten and the widows and orphans are suffering just to make their way.
